Production and Purchasing
Our self owned plants have a long experience working with environmental issues. For our outsourced production, our Code of Conduct sets the standards for what we consider important.
Our ambition is that everyone working for us should have good working conditions, no matter if they are employed at one of our self owned plants or an outsourced production unit. This is one of our largest challenges in developing countries.
Every self owned plant has its own environmental aspect list, which is updated yearly. This list is continuously evaluated to make sure we prioritise the improvements which are of the greatest importance to the environment. This process results in a local action plan with measurable targets for each plant, where we strive to minimise consumption of waste, energy and chemicals, as well as choose materials with a lower environmental footprint.
For our outsourced production, our Code of Conduct sets the standard for what we consider important and that the working conditions are consistent with our company´s Core Values at independent suppliers. When it comes to choosing suppliers, we strive to work with suppliers certified to ISO 14001.
We put effort into building long-term relationships with our producers. For example, we have worked with the same producer in Vietnam for 18 years and counting, which is the longest relationship so far.
To ensure our high standards and quality, we have a well-established organisation employed with a role to monitor, develop and audit the outsourced production and self-owned factory units.
Action: 100% Renewable Energy
We only use electricity from 100% renewable energy at our production sites in Sweden, Estonia and the UK.
Action: Re-using corrugated cardboard
We have a project where we pack Snickers Workwear garment directly into Snickers Workwear corrugated boxes. When arriving at our central warehouse, theboxes are re-used and packed again for further transport to our dealers around the world.
Action: Upgrading to LED Lights
In our factories, we have upgraded from fluorescent lamps to LED lights, saving XX emissions of CO2.
Travel and Transport
We make continuous efforts to reduce our emission of CO2. Transport of our products and internal travels are the areas with the largest impact and potential for improvement.
When transporting our products, we strive to optimise freight planning throughout the value chain. Every day, we use our virtual meeting system, enabling us to meet from any location, without always having to travel.
Action: Travelling by Train
To reduce the environmental footprint for business travels, we encourage our staff to use the most environmentally friendly choice of travel mode, travelling by train whenever possible.
Action: Virtual Meeting System
To reduce our travels within the Group, we have invested in modern virtual meeting systems, making it possible for us to meet without always having to travel.
Action: 5% Less Chemicals
We work proactively to reduce chemicals used in our and our suppliers’ production, according to the substitution principle. All our self owned plants are targeted to reduce their use of chemicals by five percent a year.
Since 2013, our plants have reduced their emissions of CO2 by 19%.
